Heart MD takes part in electronic prescribing to your neighborhood and mail-order pharmacies. Our aim is to provide prompt, effective assistance to patients who require prescriptions. In order to achieve these objectives given the volume of prescription requests, we have developed the following guidelines.

i. The patient is in charge of promptly informing the office when refills are required. Do not wait to call; it could take up to three (3) business days for your refill to be approved. Please get in touch with us if you purchase your medication from a mail-order pharmacy at least fourteen (14) days before it expires.

ii. Medication refill requests will only be processed from Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. If you run out of medication after hours, kindly let your doctors and nurse practitioners/physician assistants know the next work day. There will be no prescription refills on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or on legal holidays.

iii. To ensure the safety and efficacy of prescription refills, your doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants must closely monitor you. The right number of prescription refills will be prescribed by your doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to get you through until your next appointment. Usually, you should make a follow-up appointment when you have no more refills left. We suggest that you ask for any medicine refills at the start of your appointment.

iv. Patients must schedule an appointment before requesting additional medications or medicines. They cannot be prescribed over the phone because an office visit is usually necessary.

v. Medication refills are only permitted for prescriptions issued by doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants working in our office. We won't restock drugs that have been prescribed by other Physicians and Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants.

vi. Some prescription drugs need prior approval. This procedure may entail a number of stages from your pharmacy as well as your doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, depending on your insurance. The prior authorization will be handled as soon as feasible by the doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and pharmacies because they are all familiar with the procedure. The approval status is only communicated to your pharmacy. Your insurance company's approval of the prescription is not a guarantee that can be made by the pharmacy, doctors, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants. For updates, kindly contact your insurance provider or pharmacist.

vii. In order to guarantee that you get refills on time, it's crucial to keep your planned appointment. Refill requests won't be granted if there are several cancellations or no appearances.
